Second Annual STEM Day (Brown, Department of Chemistry)
The Department of Chemistry will host its second annual STEM Day on January 23, 2018. This year, 60 students from three Providence high schools will join us.
WHAT IS STEM DAY?
STEM Day brings high school students to Brown's campus to learn more about undergraduate life as a STEMmajor, explore various STEM fields through interactive breakout sessions, and engage in discussion about college access and success. The students are from three schools: Times^2 STEM Academy, 360 High School, and the William B. Cooley Science and Technology High School.
A majority of attendees are from historically underrepresented groups and are first-generation college students. They are all college-bound.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER AND HOW?
All undergrads, grad students, and postdocs who are interested in volunteering are welcome! Please use the link below, and share with anyone you know who is particularly interested in working with first-generation students and/or students from HUGs.

MORE ABOUT PROVIDENCE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The Providence Public School system is composed of 23 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 10 high schools, and 2 K-12 schools (including standard and charter schools). Among all schools, 64% of students are Hispanic, 17% Black, 9% White, 5% Asian, 3% Multi-Racial, and 1% Native American. 31 different languages are spoken by students and their families across the district, and students represent 52 countries of origin.
